I designed this pattern as there was a need for a traditional argyle sock pattern for the TKGA Master program, and I wanted to develop a modernized argyle sock pattern. This sock pattern is designed to be worked with super fine yarn at a tight gauge to provide comfort and durability. Since argyle is worked flat in intarsia, seams are placed and planned for so they are unobtrusive and will not distort the intarsia or the fabric of the sock. Using a circular needle for magic loop makes rearranging stitches for the heel and resting out of work stitches easier than transferring stitches to and from waste yarn, but other methods may be used.

The argyle diamonds are worked using the intarsia technique while the argyle accent lines will be worked in duplicate stitch after the sock is completed.

IMPORTANT: If you are working this sock for your Master Hand Knitting Level 2 project, do not adjust the gauge. Work this to the pattern’s stated gauge and for the foot length specified in your instructions. Your sock should match all measurements given in this pattern. Use the Slip Knot cast-on technique.
