MATERIALS
Yarn: 14 (14, 14, 15, 15) (16, 16, 16) balls of Hip Wool (100% Peruvian Highland Wool, 87 yds / 80 m – 50 g), colourway Gingerbread Brown.

3 (3, 3, 4, 4) (4, 4, 4) balls of Hip Mohair (80% mohair, 20% polyamide, 230 yds / 210 m – 25 g), colourway Chestnut Brown.

The vest is worked with both yarns held together throughout the pattern: two threads of Hip Wool and one thread of Hip mohair = three threads held together.

If you decide to use another yarn, you will need approx. 1135 (1175, 1218, 1265, 1305) (1335, 1365, 1392) yds / 1038 (1074, 1120, 1157, 1200) (1221, 1248, 1280) m of aran or bulky-weight yarn and approx. 540 (620, 690, 735, 780) (825, 870, 920) yds / 494 (567, 630, 672, 713) (754, 796, 841) m of lace-weight yarn.

Needles: US 13 / 9 mm 16” / 40 cm (for ribbing) and US 15 / 10 mm 32” / 80 cm (for body and yoke) circular needles.

Notions: Waste yarn or stitch holder, stitch markers.

GAUGE
9 sts x 16 rows to 4” / 10 cm on US 15 / 10 mm needles in Stockinette Stitch, after blocking. Note! Row gauge is not critical for this project, as the pattern is written based on measurements.

CONSTRUCTION
The vest is worked from the bottom up. First, front and back piece are worked flat separately to shape the splits, whereafter both pieces are placed on one needle to be worked in the round. The body is divided into front and back piece again at the armhole openings. They are joined together from the wrong side at the shoulders with a third needle. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline for the ribbing which is then folded double. The curled edges around the armhole openings are attached to the WS.

MODIFICATIONS
This vest also works with little ease, thus more fitting. It’s all about your personal preferences and how you like to style your garments!
