Winter Vacation
Winter vacations are for resting, enjoying time with family, and knitting! Lots and lots of knitting. Winter is also the time for warm, woolly hats. The idea for this cute stranded hat came to me over my winter vacation last year. It uses two high contrast colors and has a relaxed fit with a slightly slouchy crown. Knit a 2 inch brim (as shown) or work a deeper, folded brim for more warmth over the ears. Each row of the color chart is an easy 6 stitch repeat and with that, it’s hard to NOT knit one more row! This hat will fly off the needles and be ready in no time for heavy rotation in your hat basket.
Finished Measurements: 17 (19, 20.5, 22) inches; 43 ( 48, 52, 56) cm
1 skein of each color is plenty if knitting a 2 inch brim. If you choose to knit a folded, 4 inch brim, a second skein of the MC will be needed.
Colors shown are Eggplant and White.
The only tools needed are one stitch marker and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends. You will need to switch to dpns, two circulars, or a longer cable for magic loop when needed on the crown decreases.
