Winter Trellis
Winter Trellis is a heavy weight version of my Summer Trellis design. Knit top-down and worked in-the-round, the decorative lattice pattern encircling the yoke is the show-stopping feature to this design. The unique texture of The Farmers Daughter Fibers Pishkun yarn gives this sweater even more dimension. The end result is a very flattering, versatile sweater to add to your handknit wardrobe.

Or…Heavy DK / Worsted weight yarn in the following amount:
• Approx 940 (1020, 1138, 1270, 1351, 1469, 1579, 1689, 1770,
1880, 1990) yds / 854 (932, 1035, 1155, 1228, 1335, 1435, 1535,
1609, 1709, 1809) m
NOTE: When selecting yarn, please take gauge into account. You may find that a true DK weight yarn will not work for this pattern. Conversely, a heavy worsted/lofty aran weight may work well. Take time to check your gauge and ensure you are pleased with the result.
GAUGE: 17 sts x 28 rnds = 4” in St st, blocked
NEEDLES:
Needles listed are suggested. Always take time to swatch.
Note: Depending on the size knit, a longer circular gauge needle
may be needed to accommodate yoke and body stitches.
Use the appropriate length for the size you are making.
• Gauge Needle: Size US 6 (4.0 mm) 16” / 40 cm and 24” / 60
circular needles—or size necessary to obtain gauge
• Smaller Needle: Size US 5 (3.75 mm) 16” / 40 cm and 24”
/ 60 circular needles — or one size smaller than gauge needle
TOOLS:
Stitch markers, waste yarn, and tapestry needle
NOTES:
• Piece is worked both top-down and in-the-round.
• A provisional cast on is used for the neck. Neckline edging
is added after completion so you may easily customize fit
at the top.
• Short rows are used before yoke split to raise the back
of the neck.
• Both charted and written instructions are available for
the yoke patterning.
• Hi-low hem at bottom is achieved using short rows.
