Winter Sky Mittens
The Winter Sky Mittens draw their inspiration from traditional Norwegian Fana sweaters to evoke a sense of nostalgia. The mittens are worked in a soft sportweight wool in two colors; an afterthought thumb is added after knitting the body.
Difficulty Intermediate
Finished Size 8 (8.5)“ hand circumference and 9.5 (10.75)” long. Mittens shown measure 8”.
Yarn Harrisville Designs flyWHEEL (100% wool): #901 birch bark (gray; MC), 1 (2) skein(s); #975 aquifer (blue; CC), 1 skein.
Needles Size 1 (2.25 mm): set of double-pointed. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers; waste yarn for thumb; tapestry needle.
Gauge 30 sts and 44 rnds = 4” in Lice patt.
Notes These mittens are worked in the round from the cuff up with a turned hem and a waste yarn thumb.
