Winter is Here Socks
The patterns for these socks were inspired by Latvian mittens. The round shapes originally symbolized eternal life and movement in the form of the sun goddess in ancient Latvian mythology. What a great choice for the holiday season with it’s theme of renewal and the New Year.
The pattern is written top down with a heel flap, turned heel and gusset. The patterning extends over both sides of the leg and the heel flap and also onto the top of the foot. There is a separate pattern for the sole. For this stranded pattern I have chosen a light fingering weight yarn. The instructions are written so that you can choose to use either DPNs or the magic loop method.
