Winter is the best time to go to the beach in New England. The uncrowded dunes and windswept beaches belong to kite-flyers and dog-walkers and a handful of determined surfers. Throw on this cardigan and take your pup for a long beach walk. If it gets chilly, double up the cowl to keep your neck warm. The sophisticated curved hemline and touch of lace make it a good choice for the office too. Simple and stylish – destined to be a wardrobe staple. The cowl neck may be sewn in place or left as an optional accessory – the cardigan drapes beautifully either way. Make several cowls for yourself or as gifts.

The cowl is worked in the round, and is easily modified to make your favorite size. The cardigan body and set-in sleeves are worked flat, from the bottom up. The neckline is finished with a simple rolled edge. Finishing is limited to shoulder and sleeve seams, and setting in the sleeves.
