Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette stitch. One lace motif = 12 sts and 12 rows in lace pattern = 1 1/2”/3.8cm x 2”/5.0cm
Gauge is not critical in this pattern, but a different gauge will affect yardage and size of finished item. Take time to check gauge.

Needles: US 6/4.0mm straight needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

Notes:
Shawl begins with 6 sts and grows wider by working yarn-over increases along the left edge. New intarsia columns (segments) are introduced as the piece gets wider. The lace pattern is incorporated as the stitch count increases. Work each segment with its own yarn, picking up the new yarn from under the yarn being dropped to link the yarns as for intarsia and prevent holes.
