Windowbox Shawl
I called this shawl “Windowbox Shawl” because when you wear the shawl wrapped around you, the lace makes little curtained windows! I thought windowbox had a nicer ring to it then “curtained windows”, and the name for this shawl was born!
This shawl is a top down shawl that can be worked in any yarn or size hook you like. I used 2 skeins of Knit Picks Gloss DK & a size H hook. I crochet loosely; most crocheters will need to go up a hook size or two if using similar yarn.
After blocking, shawl measures 50” across by 28” deep. Your finished shawl will vary with yarn used, number of repeats made, & how severe your blocking is.
The Windowbox Shawl is considered an advanced beginner pattern.
Pattern includes a hand drawn chart made by pixie56 for the set up rows of the shawl, with a second chart showing the pattern repeat. The edging (one row) is not charted.
Many thanks to my pattern testers, AussiesPrincess, daughterofartemis, jam52, deadalchemist & CollieGrl64.
And a HUGE thank you to pixie56 not only for testing the shawl, but for drawing out the chart that is included with this pattern! I couldn’t have done it without all of you!
Feel free to make as many of these as you like for local craft fairs/auctions/raffles/bazaars, but please
do not sell finished items online. The pattern itself is not for sale. If making for charity, please let me know the name of the charity & include my contact info with the item (http://anastaciaknits.net).
