The Windowpane Scarf is inspired by simple quilt blocks. It is worked from end to end.

Switching the Brioche Knit and Brioche Purl columns in the center of each block changes foreground and background colors with eye-catching results. The stitch patterns are both charted and written.

Errata:
The chart row numbers don’t match the written instructions. Using either one makes a lovely scarf, but they don’t match each other; there are 2 extra rows before and after the syncopated square in the chart. To make things all match up, the chart numbers should read:

1-7 MC and CC
2-8 MC and CC
9-23 MC and CC
10-24 MC and CC
25-31 MC and CC
26-32 MC and CC.

If the knitter never looks at the other directions (written vs chart) they’d never know. But one knitter did…and wrote to me!
