Wildwood shawl
The shawl is constructed like a half hap shawl, aka the emblematic shetland shawl construction.
The first section is worked bottom up, like a triangle. It’s the section that features the beautiful tree motif which might look very fancy but is truly very simple to execute.
Once that section is done, the top stitches are left on hold, and all the side stitches are picked up. Then the work is done in the opposite direction, with rows and rows of garter stitch to truly enjoy the yarn, and a few eyelets rows which will be used (if you want to), to create little braids (a video tutorial is provided for this section). And lastly, an I-cord edging to bring the whole piece together.
The resulting piece is a very snuggly and cosy shawl (it’s more like a huge neck blanket really) that will keep you so warm and toasty. I can’t wait to start wearing mine as soon as the temperatures will start dropping.
Yarn
A note on yarn: Each Nutiden colorway is unique in its own way which means that the yarn weight/ yardage might differ from one plate to the next. For this reason, yardage estimation is quite tricky, so yarn weight has been offered instead. In terms of yarn substitution, Plötulopi is probably the closest yarn that you could choose for this project.
