Waistcoat features floral pattern inspired by an embroidered Czechoslovakian wedding dress in the collection of the Museum of International Folk Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Except for bottom borders, vest is worked circularly to shoulders using two-color stranding technique. Patterns are charted. Steeks are made for front opening and armholes. Shoulders are shaped with short rows.

  • Size A: 37” / 94 cm chest; 20.5” / 52 cm length
  • Size B: 40” / 101.5 cm chest; 22” / 56 cm length
  • Size C: 43.5” / 110.5 cm chest; 23.5” / 59.5 cm length

Yarn: Cheryl Oberle’s Dancing Colors Hand-Dyed Yarn (50% merino/50% mohair, 490 yd / 448 m = 8 oz hank)

  • Color A: Amethyst, 1 hank
  • Color C: Cha, 2 oz. (approx. 123 yds)
  • Color B: 600 yd / 549 m of a Black sportweight wool

Needloes:

  • 24” / 60 cm circular needles US 3 / 3.25 mm for Size A: US 4 / 3.5 mm for Size B: US 5 / 3.75 mm for Size C
  • 24” / 60 cm and 16” / 40 cm circular needles two sizes smaller than needles used for body

Gauge: (in two-color pattern on larger needles)

  • Size A: 26 sts and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm
  • Size B: 24 sts and 30 rows = 4” / 10 cm
  • Size C: 22 sts and 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm
  • Note: Remember that gauge determines how your garment will fit. Swatch until you get it right!
