This shawl uses 1.4 oz of Cobweb weight yarn, 710 yards of yarn. It is knit on size 8 US (5 mm) needles, the body of the shawl is worked in garter stitch.

The shawl is knit sideways and then eventually on the bias, adding the lace edging after the body of the shawl is done.

The pattern does include complete written instructions.

There isn’t a chart for the lace border, because it is a simple lace stitch to remember.

You WILL, however, have to count the stitches you pick up for the lace portion to make sure that you have a stitch count that equals a multiple of 12 + 1. Your calculator will help you and the directions are included for this, with blanks to fill in the numbers that you have.

In designing this shawl, I have learned that there are different thicknesses of cobweb weight yarn. My yarn tended toward the thicker side of cobweb. Kate, my tester, used a finer cobweb. Both yarns worked! Kate’s shawl measures a bit smaller than mine, though. However, it is just as functional and gorgeous!
