Welter Hat
Short rows worked using the wrap & turn method within the twisted ribbing pattern shape the brim of this hat so that it hugs the nape; additional short rows between purl welts in the crown add casual slouch.
Finished Size: One size to fit most adults; about 16” circumference and 9” height, measured unstretched.
Yarn: Aran weight (#4 Medium)
Shown here: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted Solid (100% merino wool; 225 yd 206m/4.02 oz 114g): Manzanita, 1 skein.
Needles: Size US 7 (4.5mm): 16” (40 cm) circular (cir), or 32” (60 cm) if using Magic Loop. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: 9 markers (m); yarn needle.
Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rnds = 4” in St st.
