Adapted from a pair of golf stockings originally published in the 1924 edition of The Bear Brand Blue Book: Manual of Yarnkraft. The patterned cuff was typical of the colorful stocking tops worn for golfing.

I translated this 20s design into a pair of boot liners (designed to fit boots with a14” shaft, but can easily be adapted to fit other lengths by making the leg of the liner longer or shorter to fit your boots). These are looser than a typical knee stocking, and have a “semi-foot” (open heel and 3” foot with open toe) rather than a conventional sock foot.

You’ll need approx. 310 yards of fingering weight yarn for your MC and small amounts of 2 CC for the color pattern on the cuffs. Colors of Nature Spun Fingering used in sample:
