Well-Designed Socks for the Servicewomen...
Well-designed socks for servicewomen…
No girl will suffer from cold feet if she wears perfectly knitted socks like these.
LAST week directions were given for scarf and mittens specially designed for women in the Services. Instructions for making gloves, balaclava and a sleeveless pullover will appear in future issues of The Australian Women’s Weekly. The complete set takes 1lb. of khaki or navy wool.
As stated last week, wool and instruction leaflets can be had from the Australian Comforts Fund Depot, Prudential Building, Castlereagh Street, Sydney, by those who wish to help build the reserve of woollens for servicewomen.
For comfort they need to fit snugly, so must be undertaken by firm knitters.
Materials: 2½oz. skeins 4-ply wool for 1 pair. One set of four No. 12 needles (loose knitters must use No. 13 needles to produce a firm tension).
