Waves Shawl
I designed this as a wearable blanket and then realized most people call that a shawl! If you use worsted weight yarn it will hang past your fingertips. A lighter yarn can be used which will give you a smaller finished project.
Simple mesh pockets can be added to your shawl.
You will receive three files:
- Interlocking Crochet pattern and multi-page chart for starting with the LONG bottom edge,
- Interlocking Crochet pattern and multi-page chart for starting at the short SIDE,
- Mosaic Crochet pattern and multi-page X-marked chart.
You may want to start with the pockets first as practice with the interlocking mesh and as a gauge swatch.
-
The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.
Mosaic crochet uses single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row (overlay). The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting). See an example here.

I have YouTube tutorials available for both crochet methods! Follow this link to get to my YouTube channel and find my other social links: https://ashleeslint.com/link-in-bio.
