Yarn Love: I worked closely with my friend and fellow Stardew Valley fan, Emily from Fangirl Fibers, to create these amazing OOAK kits featuring colors inspired by the seasonal festivals in the game, as well as the villagers! These kits will be available at DFW Fiber Fest this weekend, as well as online starting Thursday at 7pm CT!! I will also be hanging out in their booth 506 all day Friday!!

Wandering Forager : An extra long rectangle-shaped shawl featuring stitch patterns all inspired by one of my favorite cozy video games, Stardew Valley. You will venture through slip stitch textures, two-color brioche, and eyelet garter lace.

There is nothing I love quite as much as sitting down with a favorite cozy video game. And Stardew Valley has become one of my favorites! Imagine yourself in a world full of cozy cottagecore vibes, planting strawberries, encountering adorable mystical forest beings, foraging in the forest for food and fishing along the shimmering ocean shore. Now embark on a journey with me to knit the Wandering Forager shawl and venture into a new life!

Yarn Notes:
Grab 5 skeins of fingering / sock weight yarn for this engaging shawl or wrap! I chose 3 variegated / speckled skeins in a gradient of colors for A, B & C, then chose 2 semi-sold / tonal yarns in high contrast for colors D & E. For the best outcome, I highly recommend that you do the same! Fangirl Fibers has curated 4 spectacular kits, all inspired by the 4 seasons! I used the Autumn season, with Desert Festival (which is actually in spring), as well as Sebastian and Elliot.

Last photo shows my yarn in skein form (please note the variegated colors are shown as C, B, A).

This pattern has both written instructions and charts for most sections. All mosaic and brioche stitch patterns have charts, only the Junimo Garter sections are not charted.

Skill Level:
Intermediate - Advanced. I highly recommend having previous brioche knitting experience before making this shawl.

Techniques Used:
knit, purl, slipped stitches for mosaic, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), sl1yo, brioche increases and decreases, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Bind Off, side to side rectangular construction.

Construction Notes:
This super long rectangular shawl / wrap is inspired by one of my very favorite cozy video games, Stardew Valley! I collaborated with Emily from Fangirl Fibers (who also loves this game) to create some beautiful color palettes all based on the seasonal festivals, as well as the villagers who live in Pelican Town, where the game is based. I chose the Autumn color palette (plus the Desert Festival, which actually takes place in the spring), as well as Sebastian and Elliot. These colors blend together so beautifully!

This shawl is constructed very simply, in 3 sections. Each section is worked exactly the same, except you will change your colors! It’s very engaging and will keep you knitting until the end. You’ll begin by blending your Colors A, B & C in Junimo Garter stitch, which is an Eyelet Garter. I wanted to see the gradient of colors next to each other. Then you’ll work a slip-stitch pattern that looks like Strawberries to me, one of my favorite crops that you can plant in the game. With Junimo Garter in between each stitch pattern, you’ll then move to Brioche Fishnets, worked over two-color brioche, then Junimo Mosaic, then Brioche Waves. There will be a Moss stitch panel in between each section, until you reach the border of the shawl. The final border is more Junimo Garter, blending in your Colors A, B & C again.

I sincerely hope you enjoy this pattern, as well as putting your colors together!! We have put together color palettes from each season, so I hope you can find something you love.

This shawl is so long and extra wide, making it so easy to wear. My favorite way to wear it is wrapped around my shoulder elegantly, so you can really see each stitch pattern and color.
