I designed this sweater to accompany an article on how to seam sleeves in a modified drop shoulder construction. Two sweaters in the Professional Knitter Certification require this construction, and I have found that several candidates have had trouble with the finishing. The sleeve fits into a notch for the armholes which requires a right-angle seam. Many try to seam the sleeve corner as you would a fitted sleeve. I added shoulder saddles while I was at it.

This almost cropped sweater features very deep and wide sleeves which makes it perfect for wearing over a turtleneck.

I came across the stitch pattern in The New Knitting Stitch Dictionary by Lydia Klös. This embossed all-over cable pattern reminds me of the fancy flocked wallpaper in a nursing home owned by my grandmother. It appears quite complicated, but it is easily memorized by the time you begin the second repeat.

I used the Horizontal Chain Stitch technique to separate the K1P1 ribbing at the bottom, cuffs, and neckline. I like adding this detail when the body stitch pattern does not line up with the band pattern.
