Walkerville
A simple yet effective rib pattern makes these socks super squishy and comfy - perfect for hiking trails, or keeping toes warm at night by the fire.
With contrast toes, heels and cuffs, they are also a great way to use up some of those leftover sock yarns we all have lurking in our stash.
Worked from the cuff-down with a heel flap/gusset heel. The heel flap is a combination of garter and slipped stitches, adding further to the comfort and durability of these cosy socks.
Available in three sizes.
The ribbed stitch pattern provides a degree of ease to the finished measurements, making this pattern very suitable for varying sizing, and there is also provision for custom-fitting the foot length before beginning the toe shaping.
Suggested Yarn: Lang Jawoll - 75% wool 25% nylon - 209m/50g - MC 220(250,270)m; CC 75(85, 95)m
Please note substituting yarns, not achieving gauge, or adding/removing repeats could possibly affect the meterage required, and allow for this when making yarn quantity decisions.
Needles: 2.25mm
Sizes (to fit): Small - 19cm (Medium - 21.5cm, Large - 24cm) foot circumference
Techniques used
The Alternate Cable cast on is a lovely, stretchy cast-on method that works particularly well with 1x1 rib.
Kitchener stitch is a method of grafting used to seamlessly join the toes of socks together.
Instructions for these techniques are not included in the pattern, however there are excellent tutorials and videos available free online to assist if you are not familiar with any of these methods.
