The Wading In Shawl is for those who wade in slowly and stay close to the surface, and those who jump right in. The triangular shawl is worked from one corner, increasing along one side with shallow decreases along the other side to create the jagged edge. After reaching the next corner, the decreases are bigger to work back to the final point.

Instructions are also included to make an increase only version of the shawl.

Level: Easy
The pattern features a four row lace repeat. There is one special stitch, which is detailed in the picture tutorial, making the pattern accessible for a beginner looking for a new challenge.

Size:
Adjustable. Information is included to change the width of the pattern. The length can be adjusted by working more or fewer pattern repeats.
A 86” wide by 14” deep shawl used approximately 350 yds (110 g) of fingering yarn.

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terms. The PDF download includes:

  • The complete pattern for the shawl
  • A picture tutorial with 12 pictures detailing every row and special stitch
  • A list of materials
  • A list of abbreviations
  • A description of special stitches

Two pdfs are included: a printer friendly pattern and a longer tutorial.

I made the pictured shawl with Red Heart It’s a Wrap Rainbow and an F (3.75 mm) crochet hook.
