VOYAGER
CABLED PULLOVER BY SARI NORDLUND
This pullover was inspired by traveling, by maps, latitudes and longitudes and crossing roads. I bought the yarn I used for my sample pullover as a souvenir from Scotland, and the name of the colorway, “Voyager”, struck some kind of chord in me. I thought it was poetic and very befitting: I was a voyager, too, and on a journey. We all need a trusted, cozy pullover to keep us warm on our adventures, whether we are taking a trip somewhere or are on a metaphorical journey through everyday life. The Voyager was designed to fit in all our journeys, big and small, near and far, mundane and overseas.
The Voyager pullover is knitted flat in pieces and seamed together. The back is slightly longer than the front with split seams. The main part of the pullover is knitted with geometric crossing cables, which are easy to memorize. This is also a good pattern to learn how to knit cables without a cable needle! The funnel neck is worked in the round. (Options are given for three neckband lengths: the neckline can be left short for a basic pullover, knitted longer for funnel neck or extra long for a turtleneck.)
