Vörå Sweater
This design is based on traditional patterns from Vörå, a town close to Vaasa on the west coast of Finland. I found a photo of Marketta Luutonen’s sweater in an almost identical design in the Finnish crafting magazine “Taito” (2016, nr 6, page 12). I made diagrams based on the photo, but modified the shaping around the waist, and added a bit of pattern around the waist and the shoulders. I designed the shaping of my sweater, and calculated all sizes without knowing how Luutonen’s sweater is made. I also don’t know what yarn or needles she used.
All measurements are referring to the sweater, and not to body measurements. Choose a size for which the width is at least as wide as the actual measurements of the wearer’s chest and belly, so that the wearer can pull the sweater over their head. You can thereafter adjust the length of the trunk, as well as the size of the sleeves.
