This is a fairly simple shawl where I used up remnants of mohair (body), cotton and cotton-rayon blend (edge). There is contrast between the fabric of the body and the edge.
Yarns
Body:
King Kid (Classic Yarns), 70 % mohair, 30 % silk, 25 g/210 m: grey 15 g and black 15 g (~ 125 m of each)
Kid Silk (Garnstudio Drops), 75 % mohair, 25 % silk, 25 g/200 m, black, ~7 g (60 m)

Edge:
Cotton Stretch (Katia), 87 % cotton, 13 % polyester, 50 g/170 m, black, ~ 32 g (110 m)
Brisa (Katia), 60 % cotton, 40 % rayon, 50 g/125 m, 1 ball

Gauge:
Not important (but bear in mind that it may affect the yardage you will need).

Yarn ideas
Many companies produce mohair with silk with an approximately similar metrage. Anything around 25 g/200-230 m will be fine. I worked with 3 different colours of mohair but mostly because I had a very tiny amount of Drops Kid Silk I wanted to use up. You can pick two contrasting colours or make a more subtle colour transition. Or use lace wool or alpaca instead of mohair and thicker wool, cotton, or merino for the edge. Use more colours, it is up to you! If you want to use mohair like I did, you will probably need slightly more than a half of the skein of two colours and a rather small amount of the third (in my case, Drops Kid Silk is black with a greyish shade, which is perfect for the transition between the grey and the true black area).
I suggest using several pairs of circular needles of the same size, especially once your shawl will be large enough. By working a row with several pairs of needles you can see how large it is.

Size:
Height 42 cm (16.53 in). As for the width, look at the photo were I have the shawl stretched on my arms, it is quite large!
