Vitamarie Shawl
Vitamarie is a relatively simple shawl, knit in one piece from tip to tip. Body and edges are worked simultaneously. All shaping takes place in the body, between a pair of markers. It would make an excellent first large project for a newcomer to lace.
Please note: the lace patterns are charted.
At the top, a simple edging folds over to form a graceful shawl collar that frames the neck and face. The lower edge is decorated with an adaptation of the famous “Print o’ the Wave” lace -- but with a twist: halfway across the shawl, the motif changes direction to give the shawl perfect symmetry.
Please note that the sample required almost the entirety of the 3 skeins. Purchase of 4 skeins is strongly recommended to accommodate potential differences in gauge. If the amount of available yarn is a concern, the shawl can easily be reduced in width by working Charts B and D only 6x each in the unshaped sections. This will remove about 6 inches from the finished width.
