In French, a vis-à-vis is an S-shaped double armchair allowing two people to talk to each other without having to turn their heads. We call it also a confidant. When there are three armchairs, it’s called an  indiscreet. I found that charming and inspiring in these times of social distancing. Latvian braid leaning in opposite directions and face-to-face stranded birds seemed perfect to evoke vis-à-vis.

As I wanted mitts wearable on sunny days, the Diamond Lace pattern found in the Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible was ideal to adorn the back of the hand.
