Virginia is designed for warm summer nights and named after Virginia McKenna, who set up the “Born Free Foundation” after staring in the film Born Free.

Virginia is a beautiful lacy cardigan. It is made using block motifs – square and triangle.

Required skills:
The skill level is easy. The design requires basic crochet skills (chain, slip stitch, double crochet, half treble and treble) and experience of making block motifs, but most importantly it requires experience of making garments by joining motifs. Joining is done as each motif is made and the garment is not blocked until all the crocheting is completed.

Finished measurements:
This is a ladies pattern and is written in 3 sizes:
Small for up to 34” (86cm) chest
Medium/Large for up to 42” (106.5cm) chest
1X/2X for up to 50” (127cm) chest
There is plenty of ease in the garment to allow for a good drape meaning it is loose fitting.
The length from neck to lowest point of hem is 25” (63cm) for Small and Medium/Large and 29” (73cm) for 1X/2X. The sleeve length varies according to size but can be adjusted by adding or removing motifs.

Yarn:
4 ply/fingering yarn,
(360/400 meters per 100g skein)

Small - 400 gms
Medium/Large - 500 gms
1X/2x - 600 gms

Hook:
Crochet hook size 3.5mm (US 4) or size needed to gain correct tension. It is important to get the tension correct so you will need to make several swatches and block them to establish the correct hook size for you.
