Virdek Shawl
CONSTRUCTION
This shawl features a geometric textured pattern worked sideways in two pieces, which are then joined with a Three Needle Bind Off for an exposed seam. The texture pattern can be worked from charts or written instructions.

Yarn: Approx. 800 yds / 735 m of fingering weight yarn
Shown in: Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift (100% pure Shetland wool; 115 yds / 105 m per 25 g) in shade Yellow Ochre

Needles: Main: US 6 / 4 mm circular needle, 32” / 80 cm length
Finishing (for Three Needle Bind Off): 1 spare circular main needle, 32” / 80 cm length and 1 needle one size smaller than main needle
Notions: Waste yarn, tapestry needle, stitch markers (optional, for separating out the lace repeats; see Pattern Notes), blocking wires (optional)
GAUGE
21 sts & 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm over Textured Pattern worked flat using main needle, after blocking
