Violeta Sweater
This is a free pattern, soft-launched 12/5/21.
The pattern is tech-edited, but not test knit yet! If you’d like to stay on the safer side of things, please have a few more weeks of patience for the full release of the free pattern. But if you are up for a fun holiday and color project you are welcome to join the ride!
Sizes: Womens XS, S (M, L, XL) 2XL, 3XL
Finished garment measurements after blocking:
Chest circumference: 85, 96 (108, 120, 131) 143, 155 cm including 11, 12.5 (14, 16, 17) 18, 20 cm ease = 34, 38½ (43, 48, 52½) 57, 62” including 5, 5¾ (6, 7, 7½) 8, 9” ease
Upper arm circumference: 38, 40 (44, 47, 49) 53, 55 cm = 15¼, 16 (17½, 18¾, 19½) 21¼, 22”
This sweater is graded with proportional ease to achieve a similar drape of fabric across all sizes.
If you prefer a silhouette more fitted to your body, I recommend to choose a size closer to your actual chest circumference.
Yarn: Sandnes Garn “Double Sunday” (108 m 118 yd per 50 gr 1.75 oz), Sport weight yarn (100% Merino); 8, 9 (11, 13, 13) 15, 16 balls.
In my sample I am using 8 different colors: Sailor in the dark (Dark blue), Ballet Shoes (Blush), Taupe, Whipped Cream (White), Eucalyptus (Green), Plommerosa (Red), Kardemomme (Nougat), Kveldshimmel (Blue).
Needles: 4 mm/US6 for your preferred method of working body and sleeves in the round or needle size to obtain gauge
Blocked gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 10 cm 4” in Stockinette with 4 mm/US6 needles (or needle size to obtain gauge)
Notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle, stitch holder/waste yarn
Construction notes: The Violeta sweater is an easy crew-neck pullover with relaxed fit and dropped shoulders. It is knit seamlessly, top-down and features a variety of differently colored stripes. A mix of stockinette, reverse stockinette and garter stitch creates an overall interesting texture. Colors and stitch mix are freely adjustable to create a very personal and unique garment.
