Vintage Vibes Sweater
New Pattern Sale - This pattern will be on sale for 25% off through January 15, 2025.
Vintage Vibes Sweater is a seamless, top-down circular yoke pullover featuring Fair Isle at the yoke and sleeve cuffs. Instructions are provided for long or ¾ sleeve length. German short rows are utilized in the shaping. Brushed alpaca combined with merino as the contrasting color create an interesting depth to the Fair Isle pattern that is quite stunning. This yoke design can easily be tackled by the beginner Fair Isle knitter, as there are no floats wider than 4 stitches.

Gauge:
17 sts, 24 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in st st in the round in on main needle.
20 sts and 22 rows = 4”/10 cm in st st in 2-color Fair Isle in the round on Fair Isle Needle (see note)
Note on gauge:
Because there are different gauges in this pattern for st st and Fair Isle, it is important that you make a swatch and check the gauge on both the st st in MC and 2-color Fair Isle patterns. You may need to use a different needle size for the Fair Isle due to differences in tension when working Fair Isle or, in this case, the different characteristics of the two fibers used.
Needles:
You will need a 16”/ 40.5 cm circular, a 24”/ 61 cm or longer circular and a set of double pointed needles (or preferred needles for working a small circumference in the round) in the following sizes:
Main needle: US Size 7 (4.5 mm) or size needle to obtain gauge. (see note above about the Fair Isle)
Edging needle: US Size 6 (4 mm) or needle one size smaller than main needle.
Fair Isle needle: The size of this needle will vary depending on the fiber and weight of the yarn chosen. For this sample we used brushed alpaca (MC) and merino (CC), and the Fair Isle needle used was US Size 8 (5mm). For fibers that match, you may need to use a needle the same size or smaller than the main needle to get the Fair Isle gauge.
Notions:
Stitch markers, stitch holders or scrap yarn, darning needle.
