Vintage Fremont
Inspired by the soaring steel triangles that support the iconic arch of Portland’s Fremont Bridge, Vintage Fremont is primarily knit in garter stitch with a series of lacy eyelet wedges worked along one edge. Simple increases along the opposite edge grow the knitted fabric into a gracefully asymetrical shawlette. When it’s time to bind off, you’ll work a string of lacy triangles to mirror the eyelet wedges.
The pattern includes charts for the eyelet wedges and the triangular bind-off.
The original pattern as photographed by Sara Morris (aka fyberduck on ravelry) uses almost an entire skein of Juno Fibre Arts Alice Sock (437 yards).
If you select a yarn with less than 435 yards, omit one 10-row pattern repeat.
Available as an individual download or as part of the Bridgetown ebook, a collection of 26 patterns designed by Portland, OR yarn shops for the 2013 Rose City Yarn Crawl.
