The cuff of this ethnographic mitten begins with a knit / purl row sequence (garter stitch) followed by a picot and then a monochrome half braid which is achieved by using two strands of the same color.

Changes in needle size and/or yarn will impact the gauge: check your gauge before casting on. This pattern could easily be knit at a finer gauge and a light fingering weight yarn with no changes in the stitch count to fit a latency aged child or early teenager.

Rembate sits southeast of Riga near the Daugava River.
