Vidzeme, Cesvaine, p 84
The cuff of this ethnographic mitten from Cesvaine begins with two rows of Latvian fringes which are followed by several pairs of knit/purl rows (garter stitch). There is a large band of overwork that separates the cuff from the upper mitten. While requiring six colors, only one or two are used at a time.
The gauge as shown above will fit a medium sized hand. Changes in yarn or needle size will give a different gauge: check your gauge in pattern before casting on.
Cesvaine sits generally east of Riga.
