I designed this tunic for me and for my little girl. Something light but comfortable for layering in colder weather. It’s knitted in the round, seamlessly, top down. This way it can be tried on and fitted as you go, adapting the increases and length accordingly.
It is amazingly flattering for mom and for the toddler it is also very practical — my 2-year-old daughter wears it as a long dress but for my 5-year-old goddaughter it works like a short tunic. I believe the long span of possible wearing time is something mothers with growing kids will appreciate the most.
The pattern looks best with highly contrasting stripes, especially if at least one of yarns is gradually changing colours. I suggest using a sock yarn for the best outcome.
This pattern includes few quite simple yet necessary calculations to ensure you can knit this tunic accurately in your gauge and in to size that fits your measurements.
