Here’s Cornelia’s reply with the balance of the pattern instructions:

Neck edging: With RS facing, pick up 70 (74, 78, 80) sts evenly spaced
around neck opening. Work one row in k2 / p2 rib. Buttonhole: Next row (RS):
Work 2 sts, bind off 2 sts, work to end. Work back to buttonhole, cast on 2
sts, work to end. Work one row in rib st. Bind off all sts in rib over next
row.
Armhole edgings: With RS facing, pick up 74 (78, 82, 86) sts along armhole
edge and work in k2 / p2 rib for 4 rows. Bind off all sts in rib over next
row.
Join side seams. Sew on button.
