Vee Times Three is a light and airy asymmetrical triangle wrap with a narrow solid section followed by a V-mesh upper portion and finished with a slightly-fanned and delicate edging.

The wrap will lengthen and grow slimmer with blocking and when worn. The long edges are designed to be soft and flexible and will curve gently as the wrap lengthens.

This pattern includes written instructions, photos, and measurements/yarn usage for two variations on the basic wrap - a cozy and soft mostly solid version and a lacy V-mesh version - along with pointers on how to further customize your wrap. The three versions are shown together in the composite photo (clockwise from left: V-1, V-2, and V-3).

The wrap was crocheted in Lana Grossa’s Gomitolo Puno, a light and airy yarn with a slight halo. I know of no other yarn like it, and I found it to be perfect for this design, creating a light and lofty (yet strong) fabric. However, as of 2022, this yarn has been discontinued. In its place, I’d recommend Lana Grossa’s Ecopuno, Allora, or Ecopuno Degrade (all in smaller balls, but similar to Gomitolo Puno in fiber content.)

If substituting a fingering-weight yarn, try a G (4.0 mm) hook. If substituting a different sport-weight yarn than those listed here, sizing up from the hook size given on the yarn label will create a soft, flexible fabric that will open up with blocking. Keep in mind yardage requirements will change when substituting yarn or hook.

This pattern uses American crochet terminology.

Finished Measurements (after blocking):
V-1 (solid and mesh version): 33” wide / 51 1/4” tall (straight edge) / 60 3/4” diagonal edge.
V-2 (solid version): 32 1/4” wide / 53” tall (straight edge) / 62 1/2” diagonal edge.
V-3 (mesh version): 35 1/4” wide / 49 1/2” tall (straight edge) / 60 3/4” diagonal edge.

The versions above were designed to use one cake of Gomitolo Puno. However, any of the versions can be adjusted for size by lengthening (or shortening) the solid and/or mesh sections (keeping in mind yardage requirements may change).

Yarn: Lana Grossa Gomitolo Puno light sport-weight yarn (70% cotton / 19% virgin wool (merino) / 11% alpaca; 623 yd 570 m / 5.29 oz 150 g): 1 ball color #013 (#002, #013).

Hook Size: H (5 mm).

Notions: Yarn needle; stitch markers (3); pins for blocking.

Gauge (unblocked):
Solid section - 17 sts = 4”; 12 rows in pattern = 4”.
V-mesh - 6 V-sts = 4 1/4”; 4 rows in V-st = 2”.
Gauge will narrow and lengthen several inches with blocking and wear.

Precise gauge is not critical for this project, but making and blocking a gauge swatch can help in deciding the hook size for the fabric you’d like to achieve if you are substituting yarn. The pattern includes instructions for modifying the number of row repeats for a larger or smaller wrap, or to accommodate differences in yarn, hook, or gauge.
