Variations Shawl is a small Sport weight triangular shawl worked from one end to the other and shaped with increases along one edge.

This rhythmic design features textural stripes of Interrupted Garter stitch worked with two differing yarns in each section. Variations Shawl is finished with a border edge of Garter stitch and Twisted Rib for a polished finishing touch.

This design encourages color-play and exploration! The easy-to-remember stripe pattern is repeated from beginning to end, with color transitions occurring throughout.

This pattern was designed using spun (marled) variegated yarns for the Main Colors, boosting the color-shift effect.
(Handspun yarn would also be an excellent choice for the Main Colors.) Tonal or solid colors are suggested for the Contrast Colors.

Yarn Selections Note!
In Part 1, the Main Colors make up the “background” and the Contrast Colors make up the “foreground”.

In Part 2, there is a transition section where the Main Colors will both be used (MC-2 as the background and MC-1 as the foreground). For this reason, I suggest using different Main Colors if you are working in solid or tonal yarns.
