Varezhki Bag
This bag was inspired by traditional Russian mittens, with their crosses and pointy hands. Everytime I looked at the mitts, I would think: What if I made these into a square? The design could be filled out by doubling the pattern, and filling in the little triangles at the top.
Various colours of reds were chosen for a traditional look. The shades jarred the eye when used side by side, so a little black was used in between to separate them and fool the eye.
The bag is felted after completion.
Another option is to knit it in a worsted yarn for a cushion cover.
