Välke vest pattern
Välke is a traditional knitted vest that can be used in many
ways. This stylish knitting pattern is beginner-friendly because
it is simple and the vest is surprisingly quick to knit. You can
wear the vest over a shirt or just as a top during summer. The
round neckline and appropriately small armholes ensure the vest remains flattering even without an underlayer.

The vest is knitted in the round from the bottom up. At the
armhole level, the front and back are separated and
worked flat. There are seams at the shoulders. The ribbing for
the armholes and neckline is knitted with stitches picked up
from the edges.

Välke has a sparkling, festive appearance thanks to mohair/
alpaca sequin yarn. Mohair and alpaca add softness and fluffiness to the yarn, while the sequin yarn increases the weight of the knit, helping it drape elegantly.

If you wish to knit a chunky winter vest following this pattern,
select an aran-weight yarn, such as Novita Arctic Wool. The
pattern is also excellent for knitting double stranded: combine
a soft DK-weight yarn, like Laine x Novita DK, with a thin
mohair yarn, such as Novita Edith.

5 mm (US8) circular needle (80 cm and 40 cm) and
5 mm (US8) double-pointed needles or according to yarn and gauge.
