These cosy mitts are engaging to knit, featuring different textured patterns that are created with just knit and purl stitches. The length of the mitts is easy to alter.
SIZES
1 (2, 3)
Recommended ease: Approx. 0.5–1” / 1.5–2.5 cm of negative ease for a snug fit.
To fit a hand circumference of approx. 6.5 (7, 7.5)“ / 16.5 (18, 19) cm.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Hand Circumference: 6 (6.5, 7)“ / 15 (16.5, 17.5) cm.
Height: Approx. 6.25” / 15.5 cm.
MATERIALS
Yarn: 1 skein of Lalland Aran by Di Gilpin (100% lambswool, 164 yds / 150 m – 100 g), colourway Firebird.
If you decide to use another yarn, you will need approx. 66 (82, 99) yds / 61 (75, 91) m of aran-weight yarn.
Needles: US 6 / 4 mm DPNs or circular needles suitable for knitting small circumferences in the rnd (16” / 40 cm needles or 32” / 80 cm needles, if using the Magic-Loop Method).
Notions: Stitch holder or scrap yarn, stitch marker.
GAUGE
16 sts x 30 rnds to 4” / 10 cm in textured pattern, after blocking.
CONSTRUCTION
These mitts are worked from the bottom up in the round. You first work a rib, then work the textured pattern by following the chart, and finish with a top rib. The thumb is worked last.
