Whiteowlcrochetco. Ursus Sweater
Ursus is a top-down drop-shoulder sweater with a unique overlapping, curved hem. Paired with the fluffiest yarn, this garment will quickly become a go-to staple in your closet!
Overview
Shoulders & Bust.
You will work this tapered drop shoulder sweater from the top down (i.e., beginning at the shoulders, ending at the hem), first working the back panel, then the left and right front panels, one at a time. The entire sweater will be worked in stockinette stitch. The back panel begins with tapered shoulders, formed with Japanese short rows (or short rows of your preference). Stitches for the front panels are picked up from the top of the back panel. A backwards loop cast on will be used for the armpit stitches as well as the collar stitches.
Body.
The body will be worked in stockinette (in the round) straight down to the top of front hem.
Curved Overlapping Hem.
The front hem and back hem will be worked individually, both hem curves shaped with Japanese short rows (or preferred method). The front panel will be worked with fewer rows than the back, allowing the back panel to be longer than the front for more coverage. After the curves have been shaped, you’ll work a 1x1 rib stitch edge. A Tubular bind-off and a whipstitch will be used to finish the hem.
Wide Collar.
The Stitches will be picked up around the sweater neck opening to form the wide collar. You will work in 1x1 rib around the collar and finish with a Tubular bind-off (or preferred method). You may add rounds as desired to to make the collar more narrow.
Sleeves.
The sleeve stitches will be picked up along the circumference of the armhole. You will work the sleeves in stockinette (in the round) down towards the wrists, decreasing in increments. A helpful tracker is provided for tracking your decrease rounds. The wristband will then be worked in 1x1 rib and finished with a Tubular bind-off (or preferred method).

Pattern Tester Feedback
“This is such a fun and mindless knit, but has the added touches that make it more than just a basic sweater. Even without using the recommended Bouclé yarn, this is one of my coziest sweaters and Mollie has made me fall in love with yet another pattern of hers.”
-- Kiryn C, Kjkc
“I am always impressed and thoroughly enjoy testing your patterns. The community which comes with that is inspiring and very helpful. “
-- Kristen B., Blachbehr
“Very comfortable and cozy fit! The piece can be used to lounge as well as dress it up, making it very versatile and a sure timeless staple for any wardrobe! “
