This pattern can be found in issue 8 of Laine Magazine.
Uoma is a modern garment for everyday use. ‘Uoma’ means a riverbed or the normal state of affairs in Finnish, and the sweater gets its look from crossed stitches that make a zig on their way.
The design is relaxed. The dropped shoulders emphasize the feel of a contemporary garment, and the wide neckline adds to the wearability. If you do not like the cropped style, you can easily customize the length just for your needs and it will still look great because the design is asymmetrical.
Uoma is knitted from the top down seamlessly. First you cast on for the back shoulder pieces and work the back to underarm. Then you pick up the stitches from the shoulders for the front side and work the front to underarm. After that you join to work in the round and work the body. The sleeve stitches are easy to pick up and work, and you’ll get the finished look by binding all edges off with the i-cord method.
