The main feature of the sweater is the stitch pattern, a combination of half-brioche and garter stitch.
Level: intermediate to experienced.
- Almost universal: make several in different yarns to get a different mood; more casual or more formal; oversized or slightly loose; male or female.
- Pattern recipe
- Customizable
- Top down, seamless, try on as you go
- Loose fit or oversized, it is up to you
The recipe provides a detailed description of the construction and describes characteristics of brioche stitch fabric.
For textured stitch like this one, I would recommend non-bulky yarn. Fingering weight (many sock yarn would do) is fine or you can put together thin mohair and laceweight woool. For a lighter version, try cotton or cotton-linen blend (50 g/130 m and thinner).
As brioche “eats up” yarn, you would need more than for a usual sweater.
