Under The Rose
NOTE - I have made the decision to archive this pattern. I wasn’t vegan when I wrote this pattern, but I am now and I no longer feel comfortable promoting the use of animal fiber, which was used in the original design. Keep an eye out for some fresh designs using plant based fibers!
“Under the rose” is an archaic saying that means to do or say something in secret, in privacy. This conjures for me the excitement of a secret love, whispered between lovers, or the tender moments we enjoy with our own minds when we are alone and safely in our thoughts.
These fingerless gloves begin with the cast on at the cuff, followed by a delicate heart and vine motif, then works through a thumb gusset to ribbing at the knuckles. This is a great project to use up small amounts of yarn, and the easy colourwork on the cuff is perfect for beginners.
The cuff is designed and the sample is shown in two colour rib but they also look great using only the contrasting colour for the ribbing.
They are knit at a tight gauge for a dense fabric, but can be knit at a looser gauge to create a more flexible knit and larger sizes.
