Unadorned
Not long ago, my husband told me to mark my calendar, because he wanted to take me out for dinner and the theater. My first thought was, Nice! And my second thought was that I really needed something new to wear.
Unadorned is what I came up with … quick and easy to knit was critical, plus comfortable to wear, plus lovely, plus casual because in Rockford, Illinois it’s easy to overdress.

Pattern info
Construction: Sweater is knitted flat from the top down in one piece. Beginning with a provisional cast-on at the neckline, front and back are worked separately. Sleeves are picked up and knitted flat (although they could be modified to knit in the round). Sweater sides and sleeves are seamed.
I wanted the neckline to dip naturally, and the slant details on the front panel make that happen without any effort whatsoever.
Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL) recommended for chest sizes 28-32 (33-37, 38-42, 43-47, 48- 52, 53-57)“. Shown in size S on a 36” model.
Yarn: 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7) skeins Sunday Knits Heaven (100% cashmere sport weight - 225 yd / 200 m per 50g skein): or any Sunday Knits 3 ply (sport weight - 246 yds / 225 m per 50g skein) Angelic (merino angora), Eden (merino), Nirvana (merino cashmere), or Brigadoon (merino tweed).
Yardages listed are for a bateau neckline as shown. You may also finish it with a cowl neck, and if you do, add an extra skein
Shown in Angelic clove.
Substitute any sport weight yarn that works nicely to gauge: 950 (1010, 1150, 1250, 1390, 1530)
Gauge: 20 sts and 27 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch, measured from the center of a large washed and dried swatch. Note: This is a very loose gauge for the yarn used, and the resulting fabric is light and airy.
Needles & Notions: US size 7 (4.5 mm) needles, size 5 (3.75 mm) for bind-off only, markers, tapestry needle.
Techniques used: Provisional cast-on, pick up and knit, lifted increases, reading charts.
Pattern includes: Written instructions, schematics, glossary.
