Pattern is charted and English transalation is coming! For now, it’s completely in Finnish.

The name of this shawl is Ulpukka, which is the name of my dog. Her colour is exactly the same as this shawl, so I could not have any other name! The word Ulpukka is Finnish for yellow water lily (Nuphar Lutea).

The shawl is started in the middle with a provisional cast on. After the first end is bound off, the second half is started from the provisional cast on to the other direction.

Use charts 1a (right side) and 1c (left side) all the way. In the middle, knit first chart 1b, and in the end, chart 2. So it is going to be as follows: 1a, 1b, 1c and after sufficient amount of repeats, 1a, 2, 1c. Finish with crochet bind off, crocheting single crochet chains.

You can get a wider or narrower shawl by changing the repeats in the middle (chart 1b)

The bamboo I used is very slippery, I suggest using wooden needles.

additional matherial needed is cotton yarn, thicker and contrasting colour to the shawl yarn and a matching crochet hook. Make about 10 more crochet stitches than what you are casting on.

You can use any lace weight yarn, but then the gauge will perhaps not be that what I got. Be sure to get enough yarn to avoid shade differences of different dye lots.
