The Ulappa cardigan, designed by Lea Petäjä, is a timeless classic knit, worked seamlessly from top to bottom using Novita Halaus yarn.

This cozy everyday staple is the perfect piece to wrap yourself in throughout the early spring. Thoughtfully designed details, such as slightly puffed sleeves and ribbed edge along the front, make this cardigan a wardrobe favorite regardless of the season. Knitted in smooth stockinette stitch with large needles, it’s also an ideal project for practicing mindful knitting.

This cardigan is worked top down. You will start with the neckline trim at the back, working in rib. You will then pick up sts along this section for the back section, which is worked flat to the bottom of the armholes. The front section sts are picked up along the tapering back edges and the front sections are worked separately down to the bottom of the armhole. The front and back sections are knit onto the same needle at the bottom of the armholes and the bottom section is worked as single piece. You will then pick up sts for the sleeves along the armhole openings and work the sleeves in the round.
