Two Problems, One Solution
Pattern Description
When Patricia was pregnant, Jake, her three-year-old son, got upset when she left him with the babysitter so she could go to her obstetrician. Patricia’s doctor always ran late, and Patricia wanted something she could do while she waited. She decided that knitting a sweater for Jake would solve two problems at once. First, she could keep herself busy while she waited to see her doctor. Second, she thought it would make her trips to the doctor easier on Jake if he knew she was knitting him a surprise while she was there. She came in, and we helped her choose some great colors of soft cotton to knit in stripes. When Jake went to visit Patricia at the hospital after she had given birth to his new sister, she gave him the new sweater as a gift from mom and baby.
Yarn is worked double throughout the sweater--this means you should hold 2 strands of yarn together as though they are 1.
