Sample #1 was knit with 2 strands of sock wool on 3.25mm needles. I suggest using cotton instead as the weight improves the drape of the fringe.

Sample #2 was knit with dk weight wool on 4mm needles. I suggest using a fingering weight cotton or finer on 3mm or 3.25mm needles.

The pattern includes the original version and a modern version that has been totally rewritten and test knit.
