This hat uses pattern #77 from “Norah Gaughan’s Twisted Stitch Sourcebook”(by Nora Gaughan).

Two different types of yarns are used.
Type A is knit with two strands of finer yarn held together on 3.9mm needles, and Type B with one strand of heavier yarn on 4.5mm needles, from the bottom-up ; the differences between the two types are the number of stitches, the number of pattern repeats (eight for A, six for B), and the number of stitches at the end.

The zigzag pattern is created by interchanging the two stitches : “LT (Left twist)” and “RT (Right twist)”.

◎ About this “English Tutorial Pattern”
This pattern was originally made for Japanese knitters to practice knitting with English written patterns. Therefore, it is bilingual in English and Japanese, so English speakers can use it by reading only the English part.
